It seems like all of these “hip hop” podcasts only talk about old shyt.

I noticed that about Bleeks promo tour. It's literally just people asking Jay related stuff and him answering because it's the closest they'll get to Jay answering himself.

Music is just being used as a gateway to do other things now because the goal is just to be famous. People say that Cardi B is scared to drop another album but the truth is that she doesn't have to. She used it to become famous. The artform and culture are just being used as a tool and stepping stone to fame. People dropping one hot song.....then become vloggers and tik tok personalities. Ass backwards

As somebody whom is involved with media, It's these rappers personal choice to talk about that and they don't care as long as they getting a bag. Plus them taking control of media made alot of these stories and content boring...

If Ghostface gonna go on a podcast run, Who he gonna go too first? A coli Breh whom is talented and can ask Ghost some REAL good shyt or his man's Nore or any of his rapper peers? He's gonna go with his peers and feel he's in a safe zone which leads to boring predictable content.

All they do is reminisce. No new shyt except bullshyt gossip. They milked the Drake/Kendrick beef for all they could.
What hip hop podcasters do you watch? Cause the choice in podcaster might be the problem if you're watching Vlod or Adam16 or Buttons etc

you old as dirt too... what's the problem?

but I recommend Rob Markman, this is not a podcast though. just his thoughts.
on new releases and other current stories.

maybe it's a difference between listening to the artist and hangerons v listening to an actual storyteller
That name sounds familiar, is that the dude who used to write for XxL?

There’s no culture. It seems like the music is just a hobby.

Memphis Bleek just dropped an album and all he does on this “promo” tour is talk about Jay Z and circa 2001 every other statement :scusthov: ain’t nobody trying to hear that shyt.
I watched the whole interview he did with Cam and I'm almost certain he never even mentioned a new album

Really both

Nothing stopping young podcasters/ journalist outside of their dedication and grind. Podcast are this eras version of a mixtape. As long as they stay consistent and understand that they aren't going to get the bigger guest until they gain traction and establish themselves they'd be fine but no one wants to grind like that now. Two podcasts in and they're @ing Jay-Z on Twitter about doing their show

As for the youth, a lot of them are low-key retarded outside of making music and have nothing to talk about. That's why the Adam22's and Vlads "curate" young "rappers" that they manipulate the conversation into making them say something stupid or do something stupid. I love Kodak but outside of songs hearing him talk about anything sounds he just learned the English language 20 minutes before the interview. NBA Young boy is the same way. The youth aren't as interesting as a 20 year vet.

rock podcasts talk about classic rock...we need to realize that the best years in hip hop are in the past, so I can't blame the podcasters (most of whom are rappers from that era) for talking about the best years.

Would be dope to hear some more about the prime late 80s years b/c I was too young to experience that first hand.

All those old nikka podcasts do is rehash the same old stories and lore we been hearing for 25-35 years. It only works since so much shyt was behind closed doors and undocumented, these dudes can all tell a story about the same event from “their angle” and because there were no cellphone cameras, they all get to be right. It’s tired, like how many stories y’all want to hear about Haitian Jack or summer jam 01? And the worst are the terrible podcasts that recap some ol living in past glory, kiss and tell chatty patty shyt from 50+ yr old dudes

These new artists provide nothing to talk about if we’re being honest.

This here.

Nobody cares about sh*t that ain't legendary, on podcasts. We want to hear from legends and get stories about their history. That's also another way to honor the GOAT's in this. The old sh*t is where the substance usually is. So of course most podcasts focus on that because that's what's actually interesting.

There’s too many podcasts and most are bad. The somewhat good podcasts go unnoticed. The podcasts that actually talk to good hiphop artists on the come up aren’t noticed. You have to talk about old rehashed topics and gossip to standout these days… don’t forget to add pause for no reason every other statement
