They let cano walk in favor of ellsbury and a few washed up vets, essentially setting more money than Cano’s entire Seattle contract on fire. They pass on Verlander in 2017 only for his team to knock them out 3 times in 6 years. They pass on Cole in 2018 only for him to get to Houston too and cost them the pennant. They pass on Harper and have gotten the worst production in baseball at left field for 6 years straight now. Pass on Machado and have had basically a revolving door of garbage at third ever since. Passed on 3 all star shortstops and now the lack of power from Volpe is burning them. 1 homer in his last 62 games. Passed on Freddie and Olson and haven’t gotten a homer from first base since July.
