IWW is dark. And the producer of that kept complaining how Nas went commercial. There’s darker songs on IWW than Deja Vu.

I’ll have to disagree with you on that. No songs on IWW is dark as deja vu. Do you hear how menace that shyt sounds when it starts especially when those bells kicks in mixed with what sounds like a gate screeching lol. shyt sounds straight out a horror flick.

That's the thing that kills me. I was around during those times (albeit pretty young) but I can remember everyone complaining because it wasnt just like Illmatic. But that's the point - mufukkas so against change they ignore greatness.

I was around at that time and I don't remember the "streets" complaining; infact, they had it on repeat. It was the hardcore hiphop (what we call backpackers) who were mad that he didn't have the sonics of Illmatic.

No even fam. Lol. Suspect is darker. Silent Murder is FAR darker. The whole IWW has a dark somber feel. Deja Vu would’ve fit right on it honestly.

I'm not a fan of those slick/polished labels to describe IWW. IWW was less radio friendly and darker in sound than Ready To Die, Reasonable Doubt and Life After Death:beli:
EXACTLY. nikkas talk like that shyt sound like The Chronic or Doggystyle. Album is VERY somber and dark in tone.

Without Steve Stoute and Trackmasters this album does not happen.

Like every Nas fan should be eternally grateful for their contribution.

If this album did not happen Nas life trajectory changes drastically imo.
