because I'll tell you this, next to no one called this album a classic in '96.

Nor should someone call an album classic the moment/year it drops.
It takes time to develop classic status..IWW was an important album in Nas' history/legacy..and it was of such quality that it can be considered a classic now.

Now, was it perfect? No..NO ALBUM IS...you can always find some type of flaw in each album that's considered a classic.

Nas was at his MC'ing peak on this album..No album before or after IWW can compare in terms of Nas' artistic level.

I disagree I think Illmatic is lyrically flawless. But I understand your point.

It was but some might say it lacked diversity and concepts..some might even say 9 songs is too short..theres always something to nitpick my dude.

Like GZA says, I prefer albums that are half short and twice strong. Also, I agree but some would say it was better for being such a laser focused album, but some people like candy corn and some people are like

Biggie and Ice Cube's first 2 weren't too shabby
