I tried not to pay any attention to hype or hate before watching the first episode, and I was pleasantly surprised. It feels like this is gonna have some aggressive approaches to scares, which I appreciate (the lampshade scare was especially well done imo, and the birthing scene at the beginning was peak nasty).

I also got played a bit. But in a good way.
Since I didn't know what the plans are for the series, and I hadn't seen the previews; I thought we were getting a new Loser's Club based on how the first episode developed. Lo and Behold, those kids are getting fried by It before the end of episode one and I was completely caught off guard by it. So, that last scene was a shocker, and great for me!

The whole thing just left me curious for where this plot is going to move next. I'm really looking forward to it!

I hope they don't shy away from everything that led up to the Black Spot scene in the book. It already feels like they are sanitizing it because Mike's dad (grandfather in this show) and his black friends were facing straight up racism from CACs

WTF was that DEMON BABY??? I just watched 5 minutes of this and :hhh: :what: :hubie: :scust::gucci:

That car ride was genuinely terrifying. The way the kid checked out of the ordeal was so realistic.

But yeah in the books the clown is like It’s base form. When you’re getting killed he’s almost always transformed and usually to goofy shyt King thought was scary to a 10 year old.

It smashing through a whole squad was new though lol/

The kids were comic book readers, and they were constantly being exposed to stories about radiation from nuclear tests creating mutants and super-powered beings.

So...the monster took what they were afraid of and shapeshifted into a form to cause the maximum amount for terror to its food.
