Plus I hate all this nebulous horror shyt. Shapeshifting and coming out of mirrors and shyt. For what? What are his actual powers? What is his purpose? He eats the one kid straight up, but the Losers get to play tag with him?

You just have to disbelieve and it loses its power over you, then the ritual is a gateway into a battle of telekinesis. The movie has it eating kids essence while they “float” like bugs stuck in a spiderweb. The book has it physically eating as many kids and weakened adults as it can grab, and using fear and anger like old bay “seasoning”
