who the hell still counts record sales?? who cares??

the majority of the music consuming public doesn't buy albums anymore, ESPECIALLY the demographics that rappers cater to.

drake's current popularity would easily have made him a multi plat artist in the 90s and early 00's. and even still, who really cares.

but all this talk about how he's doing numbers when he ain't even doing 10 million, let alone 5 million. Drake stans drinkin the kool aid letting them number gas everything up. Jay never switched up his content until later in his career.

he won't

i'm not even a drake fan or a jigga stan but lemme just say this

drake is drake. jay is jay, but a legend in the game

the end

exactly, let Drake do his thing but they need to show respect to how far Jay has came in the hip hop world. his catalog alone is just mind boggling to look at. that longevity is impressive.

So you gonna act like Hov wasn't doing his best Drake impression on that song with Future?

There can only be one. Jay levels are never being reached again. Did ya'll not watch RD20? Jay Biggs and Dame changed the game. Drake is a hitmaker of his era just like Nelly or Wayne or anyone else who makes popular catchy music for their generation. Drake never did anything to break new ground or change the way contracts are drawn up. Aubrey is getting his pockets hit by several different different people/entities before he sees a dime of his money. Jay been paying himself first for almost 3 decades. He did 9/11 and Columbine benefit concerts. Got clean water for kids in Africa. He has more #1 albums than Elvis. He writes his own shyt. Undispted one of the best to ever touch a mic. Drake fukks IG thots and signs better artists than himself to leech off scavenging for hits. Stop comparing them on any level because there really is nothing to compare in terms of true accomplishment from the ground up along with the continued influence and longevity Jay has.

yea Jay kind of broke ground when it comes to owning your own catalog, guys like him & Master P are good examples of taking your own music and making your own empire.

You also have to consider everything Jay does going forward musically is uncharted territory as a mid 40's rapper considering he is a rare case of an emcee from the 80's/90's that doesn't still sound like a 90's emcee when he spits coupled with how the game discards anyone over 40 in general.

Gonna be a while before you can compare someone with him stat wise especially someone not even 10 years in.
