DeRossi was telling the coach what subs to throw in because he was too defensive. Failing to make a world cup with Verratti, DeRossi, Chiellini. Anyway Europe might still have an edge with the new look Spain, Germany (though its hard to repeat), France (bad coach). Brazil looks like it has turned the corner now and will be interesting to watch.

How’s that even a surprise? Italy didn’t make it past the first round in 2010 and 2014.
They’ve been in steep decline since winning it in 2006 (same with their league, which used to be the strongest in the world).
Look at their squad... There’s no Baggio, Del Piero, Pirlo or even a Totti.
The best player Italy has produced in the last 10 years is Balotelli, which says a lot:heh:

He's been playing really well the last year. Italy had no valid reason to not call him up. :mjpls:

Them failing to qualify makes Ventura's comments about him even more ridiculous.

"The way of judging this is not whether Balotelli is scoring goals, the problems are elsewhere -- the rest of Balotelli.
Probably should have judged him on if he was scoring goals :umad:

"We need to consider the 360 degrees of Balotelli, but right now our priority is qualifying and then we will have a further four to five months to think about it. I can't put the World Cup on the line right now -- I need certainties."
