:jbhmm: what albums in 94 were DR better than Bad Boy tho?

I mean Biggie trumps anything that DR made in 1994 and after that.
Umm..

Doggy Style came out Nov 93..-So that whole year of 94 Snoop had a album out while Badboy only had singles..

RTD came out in Sept 94-

Flava in ya ear didnt come out till like July of 94 and Juicy didnt come till August

2 singles versus a whole album..:ohhh:

:bryan:

lol@ and after that...

It's not really about which albums were better. In 1994, Bad Boy was just getting their feet wet. Death Row was already established. A lot of the drama that the label is now known for wasn't anywhere near the scale of what it become in '95-'96. You have access to Dr. Dre production. Daz is also producing fire. With Bad Boy, it's nowhere near as established. Puff is just now establishing himself as a force in Hip Hop after making a name for himself by helping oversee albums from Mary J. Blige and Jodeci. He's not as established in Hip Hop just yet especially not on the level that Death Row's production is by '94.

I remember when DS came out and I always considered it a 93 album--because the singles (What's my name, Gin n Juice) and videos were out during that Spring/Summer. I mean if you're going that route then R2D is more of a 95 album because it came out in September.

But I look at DR's success as a before and after Dre era....IMO if you came out with Dre in 91-93...youre good money (DS is a Dre project), by 94 tho...when he left the place just fell apart.

I can't think of anything in 1994 on DR without Dre that is comparable to R2D as far as quality.

So how are we judging this? By financial/commercial success or based on our opinions of the quality of the projects?

Because if this is about money--then DR wins hands down.... because of Dre--91,92 and 93 solidified it before 1994.
