Probably your router. Is that your speed on wifi or direct to the modem? I was gettin shytty speeds like that until I hit comcast & the tech told me get a new router.

That's the problem, ping basically measures the connection between your computer and router. It shouldn't ever be above 20ms unless you're that far away. You're getting about half your potential connection speed because of it.

There's no fios in my area. Cox with 30MB. I think they offer a 50 MB plan though. Imma look into that and may upgrade.

Turns out we actually were paying for the 50MB premier service, but our outdated modem couldn't even access that speed. I did buy a new 3.0 modem the other day that should allow it to access that speed now, but I'm still not sure if it's hitting it, at least it wasn't showing as such when I tested the net from my phone. Didn't run a pc speedtest yet though. Also was able to get the bill lowered by 20%.

Unfortunately I don't have access to fios but I have a great internet connection that I'm very, very happy with. 30MB, incredibly stable and reliable, never have issues.
