That whole situation was a lot more complicated than people now are making it seem.

Ken Burns has a great documentary about this called "The US and the Holocaust" and it goes into more detail about HOW the United States got to the point where they were ambivalent about Hitler and the Jewish problem. And how they were reluctant to accept them as refugees.

Yes, Nazism had its supporters in America. But it's also true that when the world learned of what happened in places like Auschwitz and Treblinka, sentiments largely changed.
