I do have one I’d like to get back (my most recent ex) and I would consider her the one that “got away”. 
I told this story in the quick gems thread. Long story short, we had an off and on type relationship for 4 years but was never truly off in the done with each other sense (we still fukked, gym’d together, Xbox together, basically EVERYTHING together). She ran off with some dude she met online (we live in the triad NC and this guy lived in VA beach) during our “off phase” last November (2021). She gave me an ultimatum January (2021). Asked if we were ever gonna be in an official relationship. At the time I told her no and I don’t know if in the future we will ever be. She said “I won’t wait forever”. So the day after Halloween (2021) we worked out that morning and I tried to go to her place after to fukk. That’s when she dropped the “I’m seeing someone” line. At first I didn’t react but couple hours later that shyt sank in and I spent the next 3 weeks “trying to win her back”. Went no contact December (2021) for 3 months, hit her back up late February thinking “she missed me”
Thought it was gonna be some happy reunion and she’d ditch old boy
Anyway, this ain’t no therapy couch. My thoughts now are that there ain’t no “the one that got away” cause if they were the one they wouldn’t leave you. Like @MikelArteta says, for the one she wants to be with she’ll put up with ANYTHING and make excuses for the one she doesn’t. My ex broke up with me to drive 4hrs EVERY weekend to VA beach for a dude she met online who has 3 kids and two BM’s.

I met her before I met my wife, and I was talking to them both. I had multiple women at the time and I was always down to meet more. I remember when I first met her, and I thought I recognized her and she told me that she was peeping me when I chanced upon her at a local store. I knew she wasn’t bullshytting because she told me something only I would know.
She had a boyfriend and all that so I never really pursued, but I knew she was feeling me. At the time it didn’t mean much to me because I was talking to multiple girls and I was always a patient boy, but I would have dropped all that for her. Then one day she told me she was single and I was like
The fukked up thing is that every time I could have hung out with her 1 on 1 some shyt ALWAYS came up. One time it was her birthday and she had rented a motel room with two of her friends(I knew them too) and she was calling me to no avail since I was hanging out with my homeboys and I didn’t have my charger on me do my phone died. She told me the next day and I’m still livid cuz I know I could have fukked all three
This is some shyt I could NEVER share with my significant other. Her birthday also lands on my daughters so I cant easily forget either

She wrote for Mary J. and had a few songs on one of TPs movies. I was interning back then plus young and dumb trying to find my purpose. First and only time I genuinely fell in love hard, like a kid in a candy store. But I'm glad I don't love hard like that to where I lose myself anymore so I'm glad we're not together. She's more than likely producing and writing for your favorite singers in the industry and married with kids as I'm old af now.
