The British dont take to him too kindly it was from his earlier Blur days and the "rivalry" with Oasis. I think he is musically gifted and of course I am a big fan of Jamie Hewlett the illustrator behind the Gorillaz.

He is a very gifted musician - as a Brit it wasn't the Blur phase, it was the phase between Blur and Gorillaz where he kept picking up random genres of "world" music, making bland versions of them and getting worshipped as a musical genius.

It's the same sort of white cultural saviour schtick that feels off with Sting.

There was a great joke on Never Mind The Buzzcocks back in the day after they showed some video of him being all proud of learning a new African drum he'd discovered while travelling.

"The name of the drum translates to 'Lets see how much we can get from this white boy for our biscuit tin'" :troll:

My favorite album from them. I hope they hit NY on tour, I would love to see them in concert.

You mean them hologram joints or the flesh with Damon, Del the Funky Homosapien and I forget the brothers name from De La Soul.

I never been to a music show in all my life, outside the free carnival joints lol.

I believe they do both in concert. You'll see the Gorillaz on the screen, while the 'real' artist perform the songs.

To this day, I think the Gorillaz, as a concept, is genius.

That sounds nice for sure and I've got to agree the fact the concept and execution were dope the music really helped push them too.

I dont think there has been an animated band before. There was this channel in the UK called Channel-U and they had an animated rap group called 'Boo Crew' A spoof rap click but anyway I think Gorillaz and even Blur make really nice music.
