There are just as many white people living in poverty within the United States as there are other groups of people. Subjugation is not limited to one form of practice.

The bolded is exactly my point. For example, those white people living in poverty don't have to deal with problems that Black people in poverty have to deal with as a result of being Black.

I agree. Oppressors aren't race-specific, every race has oppressed or has been oppressed throughout the history of mankind.

An oppressor will always find a reason, usually based on difference, to oppress.

Classism and racism are issues yes, but the most powerful institution we have in society to fix these issues is our educational system because classism and racism are learned early. That's why we desegrated schools and colleges. Unfortunately, classism and racism are sometimes gestated in private and boarding schools so those institutions should also be working to solve those issues, which normally doesn't get solved because as private institutions they rely on the donors and it's the donors themselves that have encouraged the classism in the first place.

Programs like Affirmative Action are in place all over the world to fix racism issues once these children become working adults in society. This is why we must protect Affirmative Action. In America it was first introduced by JFK and then the Civil Rights Act but around the year 2000, California, Washington and Michigan have been trying to get rid of Affirmative Action by claiming it creates reverse discrimination and illegal quotas. And they're partially right, that's why Affirmative Action needs to be amended to protect against classism.

What is "classism?" The issue in society isn't about discrimination based on one's class. The issue is one of exploitation of labor and where one falls in terms of whether they exploit labor or are exploited by capital determines class standing.

So the issue isn't "classism," the issue is class society.

EDIT: also, my god... bumping a thread from FOUR years ago :skip:

If we keep focusing on what makes us different instead of realizing we are all in the same boat, the boot of the oppressor is going to asphyxiate all of us. The differences between a Republican and Democrat are mostly superficial.

And just because someone looks like you doesn't necessarily mean he has your interest at heart.

People get the government they deserve.

Shut up
