Fundamentally, what did him in was a white person in a position of power using the fact that he was under temporary foster care that was safe and secure that could be taken away from him at any time to coerce him to do something against his will.

Randy was a smart kid but naive and innocent. All of that is was going to be removed by his life circumstances. He would end up a Prop Joe, his tough life would make him street wise but he’s not a naturally bad minded dude. Had he has loving parents, he would have been a legit successful entrepreneur.

If Cheese had been in Randy's life, Randy would've been like Namond but smarter and driven. Cheese being a semi-decent dad would've either steered Randy away from the streets and utilised his intelligence in legit business or at least grandfathered him into the game, given him protection and advice. Heck, if Prop Joe had known Randy was his nephew - Randy would've moved wiser and learnt how to do business with a mentor.
