I think the final nail in the coffin was when Daft Punk broke up last year. It was on life support at that point, but that was the end of house music's chapter. But outside of rap/hip-hop, I probably listened to techno/house the second most. A lot of good material to listen to from the 90's and 2000's.

EDM killed House Music IMHO. And it just ruined dance music.
Once the focus was on making crowds move at festivals and DJs remixing and playing the same tracks by the same people it got stale.
The good stuff went underground.
But all that electro house crap that is festival music is what the youngins consider house music now.

All the club DJs now play is trap and afrobeat.
Vibe has never been so boring.
House and techno never gets played in top 40 clubs in the states. And never really has been for mainstream clubs unlike in the UK and EU.
