this is a response to the other thread , questioning what region is really king.
New York city started this culture and is the biggest influence till this day . while all the other regions got their shine , new york has always been there watching over like the proud dad at the jv basketball game
westcoast had a cute run in early 90's and the south has had their pack of one hit wonders . but the culture has always revolved around new york
from nas and wu tang in the early 90s to dipset in the 2000's
they may have not been the focal point of mainstream hip hop at the time but we can all agree as hip hop heads that in the latter years these artist defined great hip hop of that time .
now im not saying that the south and west is discredited by no means they have elevated the culture in production and musicality and we all love the souths ignorant music at clubs.
but hip hop is a culuture , let's not forget even in todays climate ny is still the taste maker when it comes to fashion (anyone remmeber true religons)
