Was just talking to a couple of my homies about this album the other day. Incredible, front to back. X had that entire year on smash but there was something special about that 98 summer...even as a 12 year old I could feel it:russ:. How's it going down came up on shuffle the other day and just reminded me how effortless X could make any type of record you needed or could ask for. It's crazy now that there's a generation who will only know X for the fukery, but dude was THE biggest MC in the game for a good 2 year span. Everything just clicked for him on this album...and I'll never forget my first time hearing Nikkas done started something' and hearing this guy who sounded like Mase but wasn't Ma$e. :ohhh: at my first introduction to Murda Betha

I still have the copy I copped in 1999 right now in the car!!! I'm still a big DMX fan and I swore I was one of the handful few left after all the fukkery he has been up to in the last couple of years.
There is something about the song Damien that makes me want to listen to it a million times - I can rap all the lyrics acapella!

The first album I ever bought, its what got me into rap and into actually copping music(I was 13 when it dropped). We played this shyt all summer and into the fall in the locker room during football practice, HS coach HATED that shyt, lmao. I've read Blu and Kendrick Lamar say the same shyt about it being their first album that they really loved, X shifted the culture when he dropped, I know there's a lot of 25-30ish age dudes like myself who had X as their favorite rapper before the falloff.
