I'm Mexican and have never wanted to be white or have called Spain the motherland Mexicans are proud to be Mexican I've never heard anyone try and claim Spain. I think it has to do with how unaware some of them are of history and culture and why things are the way they are.

You won't find someone that's just gonna flat out say they love spanish culture and white people. Most of the time people don't even know when they are doing it.

I've met Hispanics that would get a better reaction bringing home a white s/o than a darker toned hispanic s/o.

Lighter skin/eyes and straight hair is considered signs of beauty to most hispanic people, I live in cali and the only time I've ever heard someone say they like darker toned hispanic women, it was from someone that's wasn't hispanic.

Different and the same in many ways, same as white American and Western European culture in general. The fact of the matter is that because Mexico is only a European colony, it has just as much "right and ownership" to the Americas as the other European colonies, including the USA. In other words, Mexicans have no right to be in the USA illegally. Mexicans' stolen country is Mexico, or New Spain, whichever Spanaird cac name you want to use to describe it.
