the artist

People who ignored R kelly's crimes for so many years and still continue to support him

Kanye outted himself as a mega c00n and his support among black people remained intact

Trump supporters when confronted use the same justification "I voted for a politician and not a saint"

So do you think it's possible to be of strong moral character and principles yet overlook an artist/athletes major character flaws/crime.
I would'nt agree that enjoying someones art or product makes you complicit in their crimes or a supportor of their actions.
Ford was a racist, doesn't mean i'm c00ning by driving an F150 or a mustang.
Disney was racist, doesn't mean my kid is gonna be proud of my integrity by never taking her to disneyworld.
It we can redirecti blame like that to every peripheral source instead of focusing it wholly on the person who committed the crimes, why aren't people suing the NFL everytime a linebacker with CTE beats or murders his wife? They contribute much more to that behavior than my listening to step in the name of love contributes to rkelly being a pedo.

Critical thinking skills are essential. Art is art. You can separate the artist from the individual making the art. I can like your work but i may not like you as a person. I can like your art but disagree with the message of your art. Your art may not reflect who you are as a person. Thats the point. Art should be able to stand by itself.

Basically, art is for thinkers.

Mine is harm principle, and a threshold (usually around crime against another human/ group) except murder. But yes I don’t watch Woody or Polanski either

it’s not zero tolerance and I don’t seek out their records/backgrounds

I'm an intuitive, R Kelly's music just feels icky to me.

:yeshrug:

No moral judgment, not gonna take a position on if people should stop listening to him or not. I just know that when seems like you're ready come on, it don't hit the same.

That opens the door to the question of just how separate is the artist from his art?

Not you too:snoop:

You actually believe Kelis??!!

Hold on...what I believe isn't really the point.

It's that some people couldn't imagine Nas (or any rapper for that matter) having the moral high ground on Barak Obama.

And for the record, what exactly is so far fetched about Nas beating Kelis or Carmen for that matter?

I be he uses Louisiana hot sauce too, I mean I don't know for sure...but sounds pretty plausible, no?
