At the time I was a life long Red Sox fan, fukking die hard, and it was one game in particular, vs the Yankees, where Nomar was completely disengaged, mailing it in, and Jeter went and chased a meaningless out of bounds ball into the stands, got his sh!t fukked up, and you could just feel the whole fukkings world view of the two shift completely, Boston fans included. I don't fukk with the Red Sox at all anymore, or baseball for that matter, but I will never forget that sh!t.

You mean this play?

I believe that occurred on a Thursday or Friday night in the summer of '04.

People do tend to overrate Jeter somewhat, but there's NO denying that his talent & will saw to it that on any given gameday he could be the best SS in baseball, especially when the stakes were at their highest. He may not have done it on a nightly basis, but certainly enough to warrant his accolades. Thankfully, time will be kind to him & his legacy.

He's not my top SS of all time, but the play he made to take Jeremy Giambi's soul is the best play by a SS I ever saw :wow:

If you think you're lonely now, ohhh girl...
Omar Garcia word to Teddy Ballgame :wow:. Cold hard truth about sports is that unless you are a transcendent superstar and/or involved in a major controversy nobody is really gonna be checking for you like that after you are done.

It's true in basically every aspect of life. Like Patton said, "All glory is fleeting."

That Jeter moment was iconic but I don't think Nomar played in that game.

I remember him being in the dugout. I may be remembering it wrong though.

Nomar fell off fast as he racked up injuries and Boston won the World Series right after they traded him. I just remember how big time dude was in the early 2000s.

The other crazy thing about Nomar is that he never signed a huge contract. His body broke down right before he was in line for his mega deal.
