I've been playing this a lot lately, it's funny how nostalgia is, this is one of the lesser known songs from 1998, all things considered, but it just takes me instantly back to that year.
This is exactly how I remember that year too, right down to the age, and the sheer amount of times those songs were played ----and the yelling and singing highly sexualized hooks that we had no real idea what they were about. I still vividly remember my homies older sister, she was like 18 or 19, who used to drive us to school, partied in Tijuana and was 100% having sex and grinding to this song
just was way beyond our experiences, she turned around one bright summer afternoon, all of us eating hot cheetos and being annoying kids, screaming the hook to "Too Close",
and she just laughingly said DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA what they are talking about? And we didn't, and then she explained it, and we were all a little stunned. We didn't believe her. From there on, I understood sexual innunedno in music a lot better.
