When i was 13 i started a "business" cutting grass in my neighborhood, then i put my friends on and they would cut grass while i got the houses. I would give them 50 percent for the work and i keep 50 percent.

When i was 17 I had a "business" with two friends where we would take sneakers and paint on them. I would market on the internet, one would paint, and one was responsible for supplies

Then i tried my hand at selling clothes and had this brand for a while with a friend who was a dope graphic designer (still is) before we went our separate ways. I was 19 or 20 at this time working a minimum wage job i hated.

I then hooked up with another friend and we tried our hand at setting up events for kids and stuff. I was maybe 21. i decided it wasnt for me.

Now i do web design, Social media marketing, content writing, and SEO. Im also working with a few coli members on different businesses. Point is you can do anything you put your mind to so dont limit or look down on yourself @BrothaZay

I'm An Auditor. fresh out of college. I make about 3k a month with full benefits.
I'm not a millionaire but my job is secure and has unlimited room for advancement.
My father was an auditor but now is a cfo and makes 6 figures.
He helped me find my job.

This is how most white people make it in today's society.
I was fortunate enough as a black person to make it that way too.
Don't beleive the bs that all success comes from business owners.

Let's not devalue business owners.

Brehs, my advise is that you guys should stop focusing on mom and pop shops when deciding to try a business. Matter of fact, forget retail completely, the days where you could make a killing off that are long gone, the world is much more globalised today and those industries are cutt throat. If there already was a decent margin or market gap to make a profit, those big corps would've already milked it all (if the Asians haven't already).

I would advise many of you to consider businesses that are part of the information economy. There are many types of business in this area but I am specifically alluding to things like software development/web development/graphics design. There is a HUGE talent gap in this area and opportunity to start your own business. A lot of people may be put off by anything "programming" related, but I assure you a few months of investment (btw just in time not money) and the dividends will pay for a life time. I have colleagues that haven't learnt sh** the last 10 years and do their work based on what they learnt in the 90s.

This.

For example say you got a degree in accounting. Then you get a job as an accountant or CPA, after learning the business for a few years you can open your own accounting firm and make some contacts along the way.

It doesn't always have to be from scratch.

Creating a successful business doesn't take genius level intellect, but it DOES require insane determination and a good idea combined with a heavy sprinkling of luck and connections. You will need to grind all day for years.
Ask yourself if you can put up with that. Get a job that pays as best as you can and save up. No splashing at clubs or flashy clothes or expensive whips. Save up and keep thinking of ideas you can expand on.
This is off the top of my head though, you'll need many more things in between.

:what: nikka are you just satisfied with living in poverty? All you do is make threads glorifying the hood and violence and going against progression and success. I own 4 home based businesses. I'm a notary, sell stuff on ebay, and video production and just started one wholesaling houses. I pay taxes on all of them and they're all LLCs and registered with the state. Now is the easiest time to start a business cuz of the internet and accessibility. You just have to put in the work and be dedicated. How can your vision and state of mind be so narrow that you honestly believe that? You are part of the problem of why people judge us the way we do :scust:Imma need you to get some ambition breh or change the people you hang around. You can't do the same things and hang around the same people in the same places and expect different results. That's called insanity.

It's all about knowledge.

Read read read. If you are good at something find out how to prove you are good at it. Get a degree a certification etc. Take free coding classes online, get A + certified and keep stacking certs. Save money working a regular job while you do this.

I don't own my own business or anything, but I've got a job and a son to take care of with very little free time. But I'm still reading these books, scheduling exams for certifications and researching profitable ventures online in my free time.

Also remember sometimes there is the luck factor. Some people just have the right idea at the right time or are in the right place at the right time or just know the right people.

Try and surround yourself with people you admire and want to be like. I had to cut off my weed-head friends cause ultimately you're only as real as the company you keep.

Russell Simmons once said, and Im paraphrasing. "yea I smoke weed sometimes. But I feel no one should be able to smoke til they make their first million. After that you can indulge in life, but until you make that first million you gotta be focused on the grind" Something along those lines.

I'm no success story so take this with a grain of salt :manny: But this is how I'm approaching my life.
