First at WMania against the Rock

then in against Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules

(Candidates, didn't say winner)

Now...does he get ANY credit for this TSC or was he just blessed to be in the ring with two mega super stars on back-to-back pay per views?

He's stepping his game up this year. If he gets back to '06/'07 levels... :win:

I wouldn't really say Rock/Cena is a MOTY candidate though. Good match but not great.

This, don't be ridiculous here. Also, there's a case for Cena/Lesnar being disqualified from the MOTY discussion (or at least from being MOTY) due to the HORRENDOUS, HORRENDOUS decision for Cena to go over.

But that's just me. :yeshrug:

Environment match that wasn't even as good vs. Rock/93-year old Hogan

and the recipient of a Lesnar-dominated no DQ beatdown

Rock/Cena? Depends on how you define MOTY. Atmosphere more important than wrestling? Then Yes. As a wrestling match? Not really. My favorite part of the match was Cena's mock People's Elbow. If he won with that....the heat....my god the heat would have been unparalleled

Brock/Cena? No because it was one sided and Cena won which kinda nullified Brock as a major threat. Not to mention that promo after and Cena still being on WWE despite having a "broken" arm. Just bad booking all around.

the Rock match was really fun to watch but a damn MOTYC? :childplease:

the Brock match was much better and unique.

I value drama and crowd heat way more than moves and execution, and Rock/Cena wasn't anything that spectacular to get "motyc" praise imo.

Fair enough, I'm the opposite especially since moves/execution/psychology can heighten drama and promote crowd participation. Bryan/Sheamus is MOTY so far IMO

There's no doubt good storytelling enhances the chances for a hot crowd and drama. But I've seen plenty of amazingly hot matches were there were barely any moves or the action wasn't very crisp :manny:

Richards/Elgin?

Okada/Naito?

Just two off the top I thought were better.

These are the only real candidates for Match of the Year as far as I'm concerned.

Nothing else I've seen so far this year has been on the same level.
