I have an agenda specifically for black folks, and actually win.

We all agree it’s needed. But it’s all about the dialogue we have to pay attention to, it has to be coded and read between the lines.

I’m just starting to do my due diligence on all these candidates...we should definitely keep the pressure on them about having specific policies that will benefit us....but looking for any of these candidates to openly say it in a public forum is never going to happen

Then nothing will ever get done.

This is the sentiment that American DOS is fighting against. The idea that Black people cannot openly advocate for their dignity and rights and get results like everyone else. The continual neglect and silencing and being told to look at policies and wait is over in 2020.

If politicians are afraid to stand behind American DOS and Black people period then there is no reason to vote.

I wouldn’t even chalk it up as being afraid..moreso being realistic.

We should continue putting on the pressure. I just don’t think it’s realistic to operate under “if they’re not saying it on a public forum, we have to dismiss them”

Actions speak louder then words

Above the fray.
OP,

In every one of these threads, it appears that people are ignoring history and political reality.
There is no cheat code to getting legislation or policies that speak to your issues.
If people aren't willing to organize political lobbies and/ or leverage economic power to influence elections..then they are basically flapping their gums talking about issues being addressed.

If people think that the cheat code is online activism alone, they are in for rude awakenings.

Better use the energy and brain power to figure out ways to get it done. Hashtagging ain't it.

Didn't Trump say that he'd do something for "The Blacks", during his campaign? Can't remember what it was and I'm sure he didn't do it, but if I recall correctly, he did say something.

but we live in a white majority country

I get what you are saying, and not voting is one way to I guess "stand up" against the system :yeshrug:

But if you're telling me you'd rather have:

Candidate A - mentions a specific "black plan" and does not get elected
vs.
Candidate B - has blanket policies that will influence and effect the majority of black people in a positive way, they just don't say "this is my black plan"

then

So they can have a specific agenda for every other group, but when it comes to us they need to keep it on the low? This is exactly why we need to withhold our votes, because they have no intention of helping the black community.
