Basically

All companies that operate in the EU have to comply. Otherwise they cannot do business in EU countries.

The coli been collecting y'all data since day one.

The only difference is that now the owners of the site are legally obligated to tell us what type of information that they are collecting.

It's meant to make it more transparent for the users.

I welcome this change.

Under this new law, you can also request to have all of your data deleted.

The last month has been nothing but my company, and every company in the damn city trying to figure out how to get GDPR compliant before the launch (and mostly failing). We heavily procrastinated on this shyt, but at least we aren't alone.

You are about to be contacted by every company you do business with on some "Our policy is changing" stuff if they do business worldwide. Overall its a good thing though.
