They got married 5 years ago so I was about 15. Even then I kind of knew she was a lil crazy. I think at the wedding she wanted him to get a 20 thousand dollar loan for her ring even tho he was a broke intern. She gets crazy when things don't go her way. If he got too close to any of his female colleagues, she would demand that he stop talking to them and apparently my brother suspects that she hired a private investigator to see if he was cheating on her. He kept gettig followed by a black van which he saw leave his house after he came back from work. She's really insecure. They have a kid together. All I know is, shyts gonna get messy.Thats the key
Million dollar questions OP.... how old were they when they married... what kind of education/job does the wife have.... how did he meet her.... how pivotal was your mom in making it happen... did you feel like your brother ever wanted to get married... what were your first impressions of her, was she a good match for your breh... whats her family background.... etc etc
Not to say your brother deserves it... she sounds like shes gonna wash and dry him.... but a lot of times bad marriages can be avoided... people ignore the warning signs.

I had a cousin who went through something similar. Call him every few days and chop it up. Remind him the self medication is aight but hes gotta be strong through this and now go into a downward spiral where he ends up fat, unmotivated and ultimately broke. Go to the gym together and work out. Go boxing together. Something constructive. The rest is on him.
Anyway does anyone know how i should handle this, i think he's going through severe depression and is self medicating through alchohol. My mother doesnt want me to go to university this week, she told me to be with with him until he starts getting sober.
But it sounds like your brother didnt know how to pick a good woman in the first place. She probably wears animal print and has overly arched eyebrows. Probably didnt cook, clean and obey consistently over the years leading up to marriage. Its sad that yall are letting men you love marry these women who get married as an investment. If she doesnt have as much to lose as you by getting divorced she aint worth it.

I know it is going to happen for my brother soon, but he has pushed me out of his life when he figured out that I thought his wife was a poor choice. He was cheated on so badly by the last girl, that he went into pure lock it down mode with the next place he found security. His wife will leave him for an online relationship, I know it is coming and it will crush his soul because his self validation comes from his image that he bagged an Instagram "model".

My brother's wife was raised by doctors in a 2 parent home but:
-won't have sex with him (says she isn't in to sex, but her cousins told me her body count)
-used to have a website where you can buy membership to see semi nudes of her.
-currently runs an Instagram of semi nudes with mostly male followers. (Her "friends")
-has little to no real life friends, talks awkwardly, works only 20 hours a week, has no hobbies.
-has him do all the cooking and cleaning (mom did it for her growing up) which means house is dirty.
-has had nose jobs and breast implants (but it gave her stretch marks), wanted lipo but doctor told her she didn't have enough body fat to do so. She refuses to get counseling for her body image disorder.
-She has such little body fat that she stopped menstruating and most of her real hair fell out.
-you can't hold a conversation with her, she has a hard time making eye contact and prefers to socialize online instead of real life.
The good thing is that she doesn't cost too much because she likes cheap clothes and hair and doesn't wear jewelry.
He admits that there is no chemistry, but he says she provides security because she is too awkward to leave and he will settle for security at the expense of sex. He says he likes it that guys like looking at his wife, it gives him validation. He has ballooned to obesity and went bald, so he smothers her more, which leads her to spend more and more time online.
