It's official: Game of Thrones is the most hurtful entertainment experience I've ever had.

How long has it been since the end of Season 8?

4-5 months?

I STILL cannot go into a GOT thread, Reddit post, series or episode breakdown, lore video and anything related to GOT...Season 8 was so uncaringly bad, it ruined the entire experience.

I was a guy who played the history of GOT all day while at work, listenes to podcasts, debated plots and theories on the Coli and with friends, and connected with like minded fans from older white women to dudes on the block debating if John Snow was the Prince that was promised...

All all that effort and fun was squashed because two directors got a bag to do a movie I don't think people really even care about in this era (I could be wrong.)

I almost feel like my girl cheated on me or something...because I have no desire not only to learn or read anything GOT related, but I'm wary of diving that deep into any media like that ever again, until it's over and done.

Y'all feel the same?

This type of shyt has happened in other franchises and stories, us comic fans have had it way worse several times from The Spider Man Clone Saga to Multiple Crisises...

What it does tho, it starts to give you an eye for detail of good stories and what to watch for as well as great appreciation of when a story stays consistent in quality through its entire run. It’s why the MCU gets so much praise because it actually ran longer than GOT and had way more cooks in the kitchen and still managed to stay quality and stick the landing.

I usually don’t even like to get into most shows until a couple of seasons in because I don’t like to get invested unless I know it’s gonna stick around but when they killed off Jon Snow and brought him back, that was my first hint of they about to fukk this up...

Don't read books, brehs. I can't be that upset because I fukk with the books more than the show, and I fukking love the show. Plus I appreciate the 6/7 seasons of unadulterated piff. Dexter was much more disappointing. 4 seasons of top notch TV followed by 4 seasons of trash. Even though I appreciated what Lost brought to television history, If you were at the lunch table, water cooler, etc tossing around theories for years, that ending hurt like a muhfukka. I consider the Sopranos ending the best of all time, but there's people still tight about that over a decade later. Star Wars stans can't be thrilled with where the series has ended up. I never finished the Mass Effect video game series but that's apparently a huge letdown.

The real letdown when it comes to GoT will be if that fat b*stard GRRM dies before finishing the series:francis:

I see you OP

I see the prequel thread getting bumped but I refuse to go in it cuz the season finale felt like a bytch who did me wrong and has me jaded and looking @ every woman thereafter in a funny way...but @ the same time I’m glad...after watching maybe 15 minutes of the last episode of ‘power’ I decided to bail on this last season rather than waste another 11 hours on this show due to some false sense of “commitment”...feeling I may need to cut off ‘the deuce’ soon as well...not playing w/ these shows no more

I read all 5 of those tomes....800 - 1200 pages each :damn: the words were in tiny small print too :damn:I invested years of my life reading the official ASOIAF forum, GOT subreddits, watching YouTube videos and debating for hours on here just to end up with that garbage :damn: I was expecting Jon to sit on the throne, to fight the Night King or for the Lyanna and Rhaegar reveal to have been a bigger deal than it was. It’s funny how Harry Potter is looked at as juvenile in comparison to Game of Thrones but if I ever get in the mood, I can watch all 8 movies and everything fits together seamlessly. JK Rowling outdid herself. Even Hunger Games ended on a satisfying note. I recently rewatched that series too and forgot how good it was. Those two books/movies are considered to be childish and girly by some yet the writers and directors crafted endings that were more moving and thought provoking. I can never watch Season 8 of GOT again. It was that wack.
