His point was the case can be made that East coast rap lyrics did actually influence the youth of that time.
And that ain't my point. My point is this
Only gets brought up when mentioning Violent rap lyrics outside of the east coast.
But the reality is this
Is the reality of all rap lyrics despite the region
I was talking to friend of mine who lives in Harlem and we had a hour long discussion about this. His side was basically "I don't see why we avoid taking responsibility for influencing and impacting all the other regions on talking about violence/murder/abuse the way we have, we're the epicenter of Hip-Hop". N.W.A. for example was obviously a more violent and misogynistic Public Enemy, Cube and Dre embraced Bomb Squad production too.
If you look at Twista's cover to "Adrenaline Rush", he pretty much paying homage to Biggie, Coogi's weren't made popular in Chicago at the time.
It is weird how we pay homage and shyt to the East Coast, but then we're the ones told that we ruined Hip-Hop. If we didn't do that, East Coast would've dissed the fukk out of everyone, you damned if you, damned if you don't but whatever. I'm not talking out of disrespect, more confusion if anything.
I have love for the East probably even more than the West where I'm from, most of my favorite emcees are from there.
