Because at the end of the day, the subjects are the same :jbhmm:

You said should the subject make you question the whole art form.

Guess I misinterpreted where you were coming from.

As far as your question, I don't know.

Some shyt I just chalk up to human nature.

We're more open to bullshyt if it's wrapped up in a pretty package.

People don't talk about east coast rap affecting the youth because young kids don't listen to east coast rappers. Name a current east coast rapper the average teenage hip hop fan is checking for who isn't Desiigner. I'll wait :coffee:

And I always love when nikkas make these internet ultimatums. What are you going to do if people keep bringing that shyt up in non-east coast rapper threads? Make more threads? :pachaha:
There was more crime when the east coast was popping tho

Not sure what your point is.

A lot of people's gripes with drill rap stems from its rappers glorifying and living out the violence in Chicago. Me personally, I don't blame them. Rap has always been a reflection of the communities it came out of :yeshrug:

The bottom line is @DarianaGrande is upset that people don't hold drill rap in the same regard they do old east coast rap. So he has to pull these logical gymnastics to put them on some kind of equal footing

His point was the case can be made that East coast rap lyrics did actually influence the youth of that time.

And that ain't my point. My point is this
a lot of people's gripes with drill rap stems from its rappers glorifying and living out the violence in Chicago.
Only gets brought up when mentioning Violent rap lyrics outside of the east coast.

But the reality is this
Rap has always been a reflection of the communities it came out of :yeshrug:
Is the reality of all rap lyrics despite the region :jbhmm:

I was talking to friend of mine who lives in Harlem and we had a hour long discussion about this. His side was basically "I don't see why we avoid taking responsibility for influencing and impacting all the other regions on talking about violence/murder/abuse the way we have, we're the epicenter of Hip-Hop". N.W.A. for example was obviously a more violent and misogynistic Public Enemy, Cube and Dre embraced Bomb Squad production too.
If you look at Twista's cover to "Adrenaline Rush", he pretty much paying homage to Biggie, Coogi's weren't made popular in Chicago at the time.

It is weird how we pay homage and shyt to the East Coast, but then we're the ones told that we ruined Hip-Hop. If we didn't do that, East Coast would've dissed the fukk out of everyone, you damned if you, damned if you don't but whatever. I'm not talking out of disrespect, more confusion if anything.

I have love for the East probably even more than the West where I'm from, most of my favorite emcees are from there.

You have yet to post any proof of what you claim, and you misinterpreted a sarcastic post. You're really on a roll here :snoop:

You just admitted that a lot of people have a problem with the violence drill rap promotes Breh :dwillhuh:
Now my question to you is, from your experience, are these people who have gripes with the drill scene rap fans?

Yes

These are people who don't like glorifying violence from anywhere, including NYC :yeshrug:

Just cause someone likes east coast rap doesn't mean they are cool with condoning violence from there. You are tying yourself in knots

Would you also be willing to admit that there are people who seem to not mind glorifying violence when it comes from The east coast, but have a problem with it when it comes from other regions? :jbhmm:

Eh....

Drill music is never going to get the same pass from fans....especially compared to NWA....because at the time there was nothing else like NWA in existence. It jump started an entire sub-genre of hip-hop, which itself was relatively new at the time.

That alone sets it apart from drill music. The same is true to a lesser extent for, let's say "The Infamous". Same subject matter as drill music, but drill music is 20 years late with it.

For the record both are equally bad in terms of subject matter. But they aren't going to be treated the same for the reasons I outlined.

Fred.
