I’m not a big “must see in theaters” person, but $17-25/ticket definitely makes it easier for me to pass on going to the movies. And I actually like the group atmosphere, especially loud ass black people haha, but those days are gone since we don’t have all those black films in the theater no more

We got kids. I ain’t paying $75-100 unless it’s Nolan and even that’s pushing it. Too much mid out there for me to be wasting money.

People want convenience. They got a taste during peak Covid. You ain’t putting that genie back in the bottle. It’s only a matter of when not if now.

They're trying to increase the theatrical window back to 45 days.

Brehs who don't go to the movies always have the most to say. Like people without a passport giving their opinion on other countries.

I can picture people watching Sinners on their laptop :hhh:

lol I saw that in theaters, twice

I’ll welcome you to the 21st century whenever you’re ready to make that leap. Imagine spending $50 to watch 2 hours of mid while people talk through the movie on their phones in 2025 :picard:

Unless it’s Nolan or coogler, I’ll catch it at home on USA at 2 in the morning :blessed:

You speak on what you don't know. I go to the movies I every weekend and I can tell you this year feels like the most people I've seen at the theaters since before COVID. People are excited to go to the movies again. Especially the younger generation. It's the older people that haven't returned since COVID.

That article posted above seems to confirm it. Barbenheimer was huge but overall it seems like more people are in the theaters this year.

I was in the trenches in 2020 and 2021 when theaters has like 4 people in a screening. People didn't start coming back until around October 2021 when Dune came out.
All I’m going to say is remove the exclusivity window and watch what happens to theaters. People want to see these movies and the only option early is theaters so they go there.

Also if you have to force customers to behave a certain way to keep business going you’re prime for disruption. That’s why Netflix is worth more than most of the industry combined.
