It wasn't an egregious hit but it's automatic when a player lowers his helmet and hits now.

story of the half is refs taking over and removing one of our best defensive players cuz lawrence got hit too hard

I get being upset about it. But by letter of the law, it's targeting (helmet-to-helmet). The rule is flawed because it doesn't account for intent, which targeting is implied to have. Instead, Wade goes in for a form tackle and gets tossed because Lawrence basically braced for impact and H2H contact happened.

Still, Ohio State should be up 28-7 or so. Can't blame the refs for leaving those points out there. Dobbins mishandled a sure TD. KJ Hill missed a sure TD. Ohio State legit dominated the half and only has a two-point lead to show for it. That won't cut it against Clemson.
