Pharoahe the god strike the mic hard like Ty Cobb with a bat
Physicist the antithesis of Steve Jobs when he raps, mack
Sick gonorrhea clap! Onomatopoeia, smack the shyt out you, you have no idea
Send a stranger to rearrange your Range Rover key your Kia
P'll see ya via satellite with money longer than Nia's
fukk chivalry I will end a chick's career
And return to forever, I am Chick Corea
At O'Hare Air with surface to air missiles for your lair
(Missile sounds)-- What you will hear before I send you to visit Aaliyah
Proceed with caution, he strikes with force and of course
You need to borrow some sorcery with a cross to bear
And a culture enforcing the nuclear laws of North Korea
So awesome, when we morphing
Pharoahe, Tigallo
We go off, we throw off and
Yes yes y'all

he up there
One of his most underrated verses and a fire song all around.

Off pure skill he should be there, but he just doesn’t have the body of work to deserve it.

Dude is one of the goats skill wise, but he really only has 1 maybe 2 albums worth mentioning, and literally only one popular song.
I don't disagree with your premise, especially because body of work is literally the #1 thing I look for when I look at artists. It's the most important thing to me. At the same time I would just ask your take on 2 things.

1. Do you think there are ever any exceptions? I sort of leave room in any top emcee list for a few super high caliber rhymers like Monch, AZ, or Thought (setting aside his Roots catalogue) that may not have a stellar solo catalogue but are just so fukking skilled that I almost don't care.

2. Can we at least agree that Internal Affairs is a very solid 4 mic or maybe even slightly higher album? And I think Desire is too. There are quite a lot of emcees that get put in these top 50 lists that don't really have one very solid 4 mic mic album...I love Jadakiss and Method Man but I bet they're on damn near every top 50 list and with the exception of (maaayyybe) Tical, it's very arguable that neither one of those guys even has a true 4-mic album to their names.

Just food for thought. Again I'm just trying to throw up an alternate perspective from someone that generally looks at discography above everything else.

if we are just talking MCing, he is one of the GOATS. he is one of my favorite's of all time. I dont think I could make a list of my favorites and leave him out of my top 10. He is right there with Nas, G Rap, Ra, Black Thought, AZ, etc...

if you are talking body of work, AZ stands above Monch and Thought both because AZ had good albums. Monch best work is with OK and Thought even moreso with Roots. For me its production/direction that carries a record and a lot of our greats are better in a group than solo. For instance, Joell Ortiz in the past year has done an album with Apollo Brown, Fred the Godson, Salaam Remi EP, and now has a new album....all are dope. Thought only did the two Remi joints. They just arent on that solo grind. O.C. is my guy, but not over Monch lyrically....but when it comes to SOLO discography, Monch isnt close to O.C. Some guys just better solo, some not.

I always knew Monch was underrated, but not to be mentioned in any top 50 rappers list, thats just a blasphemy!

Monch is probably the most technically skilled MC. his flow is 2nd to none. his complex mutlisyllabic rhymes and witty wordplay are unbelievable.

His catalogue is also consistently dope. from his organized Kunfusion work, to his solo albums to his show-stealing guest features.

you just can't make a top 50 rappers list without him.

I hear you.

But I never got the allure of lists and platinum artists being cheesed that they didn't get added to a persons simple list of names.

Pharoahe is a beyond incredible emcee.

In every form of the word.

Em easily shouted him out on Rap God.

All tenured emcees know what he is.

He's a rap machine but in the right way and with soul.
