Internal Affairs has some gems on it. Desire is heat too. Sadly, I never checked out anything beyond Desire. The lyricism on those two albums from the technical to the wordplay is GOAT level.

Same. I think the time lapse between his first and 2nd album hurt him, as did his 1st album going out of print.
I also think he got in this weird space where he ended up almost being seen by some mainstream folks and casual fans as a hook man.
Dude is one of the most versatile emcees ever though. Definitely one of my favorites. I saw him live with M.O.P. and his breath control was flawless. He had an inhaler on stage and it's really inspirational that he's able to flow the way he does while having asthma. There's a freestyle somewhere out there where his asthma flares up while he's rapping.
Even though he's one of my favorites ever I do admit that besides his first album I do think I prefer him when there's another artist on a joint with him, and I've had a hard time getting into a couple of his albums post 2010. I'm not exactly sure why. There's nothing not dope about them.
But yeah. Monch is absolutely a top 50 emcee by damn near every metric.
That's wild. I basically said the same thing and I'm not exactly sure why. But I just haven't gotten into anything after Desire. When I saw him live in 2004 he rapped the Desire verses acapella. I remember the clips/clipse like Pharrell bars having the crowd open. It was cool to hear them on a song years later.
