I like it a lot. I’m strictly a researcher. Researchers typically need specialized degrees, but designers just have to have a certificate and a portfolio. I have to run sessions with substantial probing, in front of many people. At first it was nerve racking, but you get used to performing. Designers are more solitary, but when the UX researcher comes in, they are critically testing your designs, and oftentimes you get negative feedback. This upsets young designers, so you just have to look at it as an iterative process. Yeah, your first designs may have tested poorly, but the feedback you get helps make the product better. So, basically try and not get offended, defensive or demoralized. Everybody’s designs suck in the beginning
