Nelson Agholor will not play for Eagles vs. Packers
The
Philadelphia Eagles are pressing pause on
Nelson Agholor.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported that the second-year wideout will be deactivated for Monday night's showdown with the
Packers, per a source informed of the team's plans.
With Agholor out of the mix,
Jordan Matthews is slated to see increased snaps outside across from
Dorial Green-Beckham and deep-option
Bryce Treggs. Undrafted rookie
Paul Turner will see time in the slot for an
Eagles squad that typically dresses just four receivers per game.
Agholor has struggled in recent weeks, catching two balls for seven yards in a Week 10 win over the
Falcons before going without a grab in last week's loss to the
Seahawks. His troubles against Seattle prompted the No. 20 overall pick from 2015 to even
meet with the team's sports psychologists prior to
Thanksgiving.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported last week that there was a
"real"chance Agholor could sit against the
Packers.
Coach Doug Pederson echoed that Wednesday, saying the pass-catcher needed a
"big week" of practice to keep his role.
Whatever Agholor showed the
Eagles -- it clearly wasn't enough.
shyt is sad. hopefully this either lights a fire up under his ass or it means the end of him. Let Chip Kelly bring his ass to San Fran
