You think there'd be.
Yet going from 4 big divisions to 6 smaller ones hasn't done it yet. Yeah, ok. Something needs to change.. Memphis going to the East would make it more competitive.. Seeing teams with .600+ win records not going to the play offs and seeing people with .400 win records going to the play offs all because of the division they play in is just fukking dumb
how can you crown the best team with a championship ring, if some of the best teams dont even make the play offs
NBA just needa take the top 16 records in the league and put them in the play offs. Thats it.
In any given year, if there are 5 teams with a legit chance to win a title, that's a lot. Over half the league makes it as is. If you don't qualify, you were never a championship contender in the 1st place. Come on, son.

they won their division, so? Division winners only snatch up 3 spots per conference out of 8. This is not like the NFL where they snatch up more than half and are guaranteed home field.
Who cares about that group of 5? They were cannon fodder as the Warriors also would have been.
Remind me again how many teams have won the NBA title that weren't a top 3 seed in their conference.
True, which is why maybe a couple of expansion teams wouldn't be a half bad idea. Maybe give Kansas City a team back, and give Las Vegas a team. Swap Kansas City and Milwaukee, add Memphis to the Southeast, and throw Vegas into the Midwest Division. Dunno, that's what I'd like to see. How would you construct those six divisions you propose?

Yeah. The other alternative would be to split the NBA up into 2 leagues like in the NFL and MLB and have 3 divisions of 5, but that's probably too radical of an idea.
