Can we talk about how in the last 5 years, Lio Rush & Shane Strickland have been CZW champ, Jay Lethal was ROH champ for 400+ days and Lashley has been champ like 4 times.

Doesnt WWE own the UWF name, so it would be hard to run the company under a UWF banner.

Combine that with WWE's size fetish and it's super hard for someone like Apollo or Velveteen Dream to ever get a real shot.

Wrestling being predetermined is the biggest reason for this problem. If wrestling was determined by athletic ability, we would already have multiple black champs, hence UFC having multiple black champs.
Instead, promotions can always hide behind the notion that some racist fans won't accept it.
Ricochet/King Puma was LU Champion and their top babyface for the longest, even Sapp got burn in New Japan as a monster draw & World Champion.
That's a better point than just saying people should be pushed because they can do cool spots (that the other wrestler helps with just as much usually.)
At it's core WWE is still a TV show a hence it shouldn't matter. They gave the second highest belt to Kevin Owens, literally handed it to him
There is currently a lot of potential in the current crop of NXT talent.
Montez Ford has looks, ring ability, charisma.
Patrick Clark solid wrestler, dedication, peak physical condition.
They won't build around him because of his gimmick but I could see him being a featured performer.
Brennen Williams never seen him wrestle, but he's a former NFL player that was trained by Booker T.
I honestly think Patrick has IT. Hopefully this gimmick is a springboard to something else, but knowing WWE, he'll be stuck with this character for a very long time.
I'm a fan of Montez too, he looks very good for someone who's trained for a year.
The interesting thing is that all of those guys are pretty much getting better as characters and they all understand presentation and presence. That'll get them further than being some flippy guy
