The GOAT storyteller
Unmatched technical ability and can say he's never seriously injured an opponent in the ring :wow:
Carried bums so well that fans would think they both put on a great performance
Could put on a great match with any style of wrestler and never had the same match with the same opponent twice
Turned down joining the kliq to let his performances do the talking rather than taking an easy route to reach the top of the business
Had the better rivalries without question
Put on more classic matches in a shorter span of time and stole the spotlight from the main event almost every night he was stuck in the midcard

Both are great and HBK deserves every bit of acclaim he gets but no wrestler from any era is fukkin with HitGOAT

Bret wishes he was this electrifying :manny:

This is tough because theres so much to consider. Bret had the ground game on lock in the early to mid 90's his psychology was unmatched and its something HBK didnt learn until after Bret left. Shawn made matches exciting though. High velocity and high drama which gave him more classics in the longrun.

Bret is old school though and the times were changing and he would NOT have changed his style to accomodate wether Goldberg kicked his career in the bushes or not. When Shawn came back from injury and found our lord and savior :lawd: he became the most well rounded wrestler in the world and probably still would be except possibly Kurt Angle.

Shawn said in his book that Bret was a formumaic wrestler nd this is true which is why i have to give HBK the edge here. If the Attitude era never came about nd Jushin Liger never did that shooting star press, we might be having a different conversation entirely.

I always found the knock about Bret being formulaic a little unfair, though. It seemed like people mainly said this to support their thought that he would not have been able to hold up during the prime run of the Attitude Era, which is a little humorous to me given the fact that he essentially kicked it off and adjusted well throughout 1997. Everyone has a formula that they stick too. Rarely do you see anyone go outside the box; if anything, they regress.

Many consider Owen to be a better version of Bret, before the accident
Athletically, maybe. Still wasn't touching him in all the other areas. Potential was there but he had a long way to go. Plus his heart wasn't into it like Bret (basically just a cheque) so he prob would have left the game early and became a fireman. :rip:

Shawn was :lawd: but I'd say Bret. I was more into his feuds. The matches against Owen/Austin. Good/great matches with Razor/1-2-3 kid/Yoko/Hakushi/Sid. The matches against Diesel/Undertaker . The IC classics against Perfect/Bulldog/Piper. The 1993 king of the ring and countless others. The ringpost figure four as a heel:ohlawd:

also I may be in the minority and it's been a long time since I've watched it but as far as Bret vs Shawn goes I feel SS 92/Ladder Match/SS 97 are all>>>>Iron man match:yeshrug:

Even if Bret Hart's career hadn't been ended early, i don't think he could have had the matches/run/performances that HBK has in the last 10 years or so. :manny: With that said, I'll always respect what they did in that first Ironman match :salute:

I heard that Owen was only a month or a few months away from retiring from the game. His heart was NEVER into wrestling but he was just so damn good at it. He just wanted to save up for the dream house they were building and raise his kids bruhs :damn: :to:
