Even if Bret Hart's career hadn't been ended early, i don't think he could have had the matches/run/performances that HBK has in the last 10 years or so.

I think he would have. He would of put over Austin at WM14 had he not left, we would of gotten a proper Bret vs Rock match (not that smuck Raw match they had), Vince would have made Hogan face Bret since Hogan had no WCW to run to, would of had the "best ever from Canada" feud with Jericho, Owen would be alive and he'd have a feud with Kurt Angle and not just that one dark match they had, and we KNOW Bret was going to have more classics with HBK

Had Bret Hart never had his stroke or got injured by Goldberg, he would of been pretty good heading into his 40s and 50s like Flair ended up being. But you could say the same of Eddie or Benoit too.

The GOAT storyteller
Unmatched technical ability and can say he's never seriously injured an opponent in the ring :wow:
Carried bums so well that fans would think they both put on a great performance
Could put on a great match with any style of wrestler and never had the same match with the same opponent twice
Turned down joining the kliq to let his performances do the talking rather than taking an easy route to reach the top of the business
Had the better rivalries without question
Put on more classic matches in a shorter span of time and stole the spotlight from the main event almost every night he was stuck in the midcard

Both are great and HBK deserves every bit of acclaim he gets but no wrestler from any era is fukkin with HitGOAT

Well Bret Hart was a good wrestler that had a style that worked but Benoit was superior to him in the ring and it didn't take long for that to happen.

always preferred Bret's style to Michaels. even as a kid when the Rockers faced the Hart foundation, I was :childplease: the Rockers can't beat the Hart foundation. The Harts are tough guys while the Rockers are kids.

They both have many classics to their name, while Michaels later on in his career was better on the mic. No one told a better story tho than Bret, in ring. He also made that Iron man match watchable. the last 30 mins are the best and Bret called the final 30 mins of the match.

Bret was the better "champion" also, IC or WWE Champion.

Bret by a slim margin.

If u had to grade these guys they would both be different equals

Both carried Kevin Nash to a classic match

But Stone Cold vs Bret >>>> Stone Cold vs HBK

but then...

HBK vs Taker >>> Bret vs Taker

It's really an argument where there is no wrong answer. We're :blessed: to have witness both of them in their primes

It was HBK.

He was better in everyway.

Bret never had any personality, and Shawn was 10x the performer Bret was.

shawn was not as versatile.
nor was he as believeable as bret when it came to being a heel or tag guy.
bret before macho was the number one actual heel as a tag guy.
hbk, was never a tag great on bret's level.

on top of being a wack rock n roll express ripoff.
when, he was not able to ever trump ricky Morton, inring.
when, hbk had a higher potential workrate, than morton

to this day,..i still don't rate any hbk anything up there with old bulldogs/hart foundation.
or old rnr express vs midnights of any incarnation.

if hbk, was so good..
tag matches would exist and an actual long term inring rivalry would exist that rivals bulldogs/hart foundation, or rnr express/me.
hbk, has no tag matches or fueds on that level.
on top of never really being a worker in bret's circumference.
to the point,..
hbk's original claim to fame, the ladder match.
was from bret introducing the match to the wwf.
hbk really did not elevate it anywhere near the stampede workers.
that bret was damn near better than all them of excluding bullington.

hbk was never a heel on bret's level.
to the point, by the time bret was a singles guy.
bret had scared all the kids half shytless.
as real talk...bret was the only real villain in wwf before savage came.
on top of being the first small guy that was so damn viscious.
you feared him getting inring after neidhart.
when neidhart had the look of an enforcer.
yet, bret was the scariest motherfukker on the team, and the whole roster....

the entire roster of wwf heels were not believeable in any capacity outside of bret, till savage debuted.

on top of hbk not being anywhere near a storyteller inring.
or having any other psychology other than west texas redneck.

bret was also,..
way more believeable on the mic.

to the point,..i vividly remember bret's threat verbatim.
I don't have any hbk moments promo wise..where I remember them verbatim.

hbk is for guys who never saw the nwa.
as real talk,..if you watched nwa..
you would have never been enamored with hbk.
as you saw hordes of workers better than him in every facet.
people talk about hbk,...
just for starters, could have never seen:

liger/pillman
eddie gilbert
art barr
rnr/me : any incarnation of the teams and feuds. hbk had to be opposite Austin a tag guy to draw, for real in the me. when, real talk.....
every week nwa went off, with rnr versus midnights, as the main event, with no question.

before bret was a singles champion he conquered.

hbk, had to wait till there was no real significant talent.
plus, after years of awful convincability quality wise.
he was able to step in when wwf was a non-draw.
when wwe, had a boom and had to put on comparable talent.
hbk, was nowhere near a draw, or talent on the likes of bret.

hbk was given the ability to draw.
bret smashed the territory system, as the next top draw after hogun with bulldogs/harts feud.
hbk, was never that level of talent, like bret.

he never was on bret's level like that...

BRET : last week,...
I beat chu within an INCH of your life.
this week,..
I take it a INCH further.

still the coldest threat I ever fukk'n heard in my life.
hbk,..does not have that moment....
