People bought this point up as soon as he got to Colorado. Once the wheels and hype fell off midway through season 1 at CO the excuse was Prime would need a couple of years to rebuild.
Well that time is now. He should get a couple more seaons imo but the clock is ticking
The problem is his foundational strategy is flawed. He came to Colorado relying on the transfer portal. That’s how he’s built most of his rosters. The people with that strategy is he’s not even getting the best players out of the portal. He’s getting mid to low level transfers who weren’t getting much playing time on their teams.
The QB position so a prime example. He landed Salter who played at Liberty for his career. Miami on the other hand got Carson Beck and look how he’s playing compared to Salter.
The high school haul has been abysmal. Landing less than 20 recruits each cycle. Only two 5 star players and one of them left after 1 season. Their current class is ranked 68th with 13 players. 13 players and only 3 are 4 stars with 10 only 3 star. Thats not going to cut it in any Power 4 conference.
But they’re not even maximizing the players they do have.
They treated the first 3 games as a QB audition. The players obviously don’t know the plays or the playbook fully. All the effort they put in to recruit Lewis and he could very well enter the portal.
