:mjcry:That's because our parents didn't let us leave the house, :laff::laff:always on lockdown or hitting the books. Couldn't go anywhere by myself for the longest, no such thing as "hanging out" off g.p. Had to have a purpose or intent for everything.
My father and mother would give me look, :usure::gucci:"hang out to do what??" Now that I'm older and I tell him that he was too sheltering and overbearing. His response to everything- "well you weren't a high school drop out teenage parent, it worked didn't it":umad:.. me- "Yeah, ok Dad":martin:

From Queens, live in Manhattan, have also lived in Brooklyn.

A lot of my peoples are out in Brooklyn so I'm there quite often, but imo it's not for me. It's definetly got a unique vibe and personality and can be fun for a weekend or a night out, but generally I just don't rock with it like that.

Manhattan, as has been stated, is the end all be all of what NYC is: hustle and people from all over the globe mixed with the highest standards across every platform. For that alone, it's the best for me.

However that being said I NEED a breather from the NYC bustle from to time, and that's where good ol' Queens comes into play. It's a comforting borough with everything I need and some beautiful sights to cruise by.

Have only been in the Bronx and Staten Island in recent times strictly for work reasons, can't speak much about them.

There are parts of Queens and areas in PG County that have a lot in common in terms of the houses and environment
Upper Marlboro and bowie reminds me of Long Island.
the block that I grew up on compared to the 2nd pic of a street in upper Marlboro

Yeah that’s what I’ve gathered too, a good amount of Eastern and SE Queens look quite similar to much of PG albeit more close together.

Plus like how DC ppl be towards PG, you have ppl from Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Manhattan/Harlem who think Queens and Long Island ain’t about their business nor are capable of holding their own ground and act like Queens and LI didn’t contribute heavily to Hip Hop and its street essence...S/O to NaS, Onyx, Mobb Deep (R.I.P. to P), 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, MC Shan, Roxanne Shante, Kool G Rap, World’s Fair/Children of the Night, Cormega, Rakim, De La Soul, Craig Mack (RIP), and everyone else.

FACTSSSS... I cant with these new style rapper these days- all that fake profiling and fronting; not saying anything. I don't even try to keep up with it unless they have some type of lyrical content or started off humble (like don q, jay critch, ) but those other flamboyant, need to be seen, everything for a gimmick rappers- pass. Pure nostalgia era rap is my go to- dipset, mobb deep, nas, you know people with actual talent, creativity and innovativeness. Even the female rappers back then were different - it's lil kim all day over nikki, cardi.

Here are a couple of female NYC rappers I’ve been fukking with heavy:

Latasha (Brooklyn)

Kyah Baby (Queens)

I heard Roxanne’s Revenge for the first time last month (I’m a young-ish dude :whoa: but I study my Hip Hop lmao) and this was one of the HARDEST diss track I’ve ever heard :mindblown::banderas::ooh:

I know!! Lol..I know it word for word. My brother played it for me when I was younger, he wanted to show me how an old school female rapper sounded. Her flow was crazy. I memorized it - but then I took it too far. I was out in the backyard with my friends going back and forth, after a while I added a few ad libs and some "curse words" that a little girl shouldn't say, my mother overheard me and
:francis:

the fact that she was a 14/15 yr old girl and could compete with male rappers at the time and not be intimidated, I was inspired. She's the first female battle rapper imo.
