What you're referring to is a version of the ThoughtCrime George Orwell referenced in his book 1984. Please never run for public office. And thank you. We have enough loons who think extreme measures fix things even after it is shown that they do not...adding your way of thinking to the mix will simply push them to a brand new level we aren't even close to being ready for.

:mindblown:

how the fukk does increasing the penalties for being in possession of an _illegal_ firearm equal the "thoughtcrime" in orwell's 1984. one is a manufactured "crime" that presupposes one's freedom of thought is the property of the state. the other is a clear _crime_ attempts to prevent people from illegally (without government oversight) own a tool of death. you don't see the distinction?

I know this...what i'm saying is:

you still won't know who killed the victim because of the gun being registered. So what's the point?

The real crux of the matter is: legislature never has been (and never will be) a deterrent for anyone to do whatever it is they feel they must do to make it in this world. To solve what you say is the problem, you have to think macro.

Why should anyone own a gun?

i'm not against gun ownership. if these people in the hood want to own a gun. register one the way millions of others have over the course of our nation's history. where's the difficulty. buy a firearm. take firearm safety courses. earn a license. voila. not that difficult, right? what's the big deal?

as for owning a gun, self-defense. protection of your home and its occupants. those are perfectly justifiable reasons for owning a gun, reasons that residents of the hood have every right to be mindful of. you know what they should do? buy a legal gun and have it registered to their name. :yeshrug:

i don't conflate the sale of illegal narcotics with possessing an illegal firearm, believing the former to be a necessity of survival for many who are capable of doing so without getting caught.

you must've been a cheap nickle and dime drug dealer, kermit.

but that aside, i no longer agree that the environment is to shoulder full blame for someone possessing an illegal firearm with the intent to use it maliciously. 9/10 people carrying illegal burners in the hood do so with the intent to kill someone. that's just an unequivocal fact. they're not holding them to fire off warning shots. they're not strapped to protect their mom from a burglar. they're carrying because they want to be able to shoot someone who "disrespects" them, someone who stepped into their "turf," or any number of other absurd reasons to kill someone. and i know of many black men and women who grew up in the very environment you speak of and went on to do great things in their lives - become lawyers, doctors, engineers. it wasn't easy, no, but they did it.

if it's a fact, prove it. :ehh: and i'm not trying to hear your examples of those who grew up in the hood that made it, no one is saying your destined for failure by growing up in a impoverished neighborhood.

so, miss me with all this cliched "it's the environment" talk. that's bullshyt. it's laziness. it's an indifference to human life. more critically, it's an indifference black life because they view black people as less than whites. they view themselves as less and treat their surrounding brothers and sisters just the same. you're no different than @kp404 you want to excuse self-hate and deflect attention away to bogeymen like "environment," "white people," and other shyt that absolves the actual culprits - black men and women - from taking responsibility for their actions.

i know, i know. it's all the lazy black man and womans fault. we is our own worst enemy :kermit:

ok, then, what are you saying? you mentioned the environment when offering up a reason for the violence. i told you that examples to the contrary exist, proving that the environment is not enough to compel one to participate in the orgy of genocide that's taken over ghettos across america. so, what am i supposed to prove? the "environment" excuse is obviously a scapegoat that avoids a confrontation with the actual cause - black america's ingrained self-hatred.

i know, i know. it's all the lazy black man and womans fault. we is our own worst enemy :kermit:

i'm placing all of the blame at the feet of black men and women. but when do we start holding ourselves accountable? when do we have the courage to look in the mirror and point out the flaws in our own behavior and thinking? serious question, breh.
