To be honest, an issue like this can only be solved with proper home training. Having 'The Talk' with moms and pops at an early age is what shapes you into the man/women you become later in life. You need to have that proper foundation.

I know tons of guys that had the talk with their parents and the ills of the street still caught them...if you keep wages low and unemployment rises and cost of living skyrockets when the majority of blacks can not live the way they need to, then the streets beckon people...all of this is caused by global capital hegemony; this is not some organic, natural occurrence..it was planned and executed with efficiency by local, state, national, and global white supremacists

We can have as many talks as we want, but on a mass scale, as the cost of living goes up in major urban areas and drugs and guns are sold to our people by government and capitalists that are in bed with drug cartels and other labor pools, then there will be no change. It starts with the political economy, then you add in education at all levels of the black community and social movement activism and you will see glorious change, guaranteed...but the political economy has to be shaken from racial capitalism first.

We already have the highest prison population in recorded human history. A disproportionate percent being represented by minorities. This is largely due to mandatory minimum drug sentencing. Once again... Punishments should ALWAYS fit the crime.

i'm against the war on drugs and i agree that mandatory minimum sentencing for drugs has devastated our community. but that's not what i'm discussing. i'm talking about mandatory minimum for carrying an illegal firearm. i don't just want to lock people up. i want to put an end to the massacres taking place in the black community at the hands of black men. i want to force these black men to make a choice: spend most of their life behind bars or put down the guns.

if black men can't put down the guns, knowing that they will spend their lives behind jail if they're even caught with one in their possession (let alone using it), then we are LOST as a community and a people. it is that fukking simple. it's a wrap. no if ands our buts. i don't understand how people like you can just simply shrug your shoulders and come up with the same tired "solutions" for the unchecked gun violence in black communities. it's clear that your "solutions" don't work.

because of stop and frisk, gun violence in new york has declined significantly. backers of then mayor bloomberg's controversial policy say that the gun violence has gone down because the young black and latino men prone to carrying illegal firearms are too scared to get caught with one. now, couple THAT success story behind stop and frisk with a mandatory sentence of 10 15 or 25 years if caught with an illegal burner. you tell me that the violence in these ghettos won't drop considerably.

if you steal someone's "legal" gun, that gun becomes "illegal." if it isn't registered to the person in whose possession it's found, that gun is "illegal." how many people with firearm permits are gunning down people on a daily basis. compare that number to the tally of black and latino men gunned down in ghettos across america every single day.
