got it. My bad...I was basically saying NY poster traditionally don’t take criticism well and get defensive as hell when people point out their fall off as the number one rap city.
Best thing that could have ever happen to music.Internet changed the concept of entry barriers/gate keepers for music.

The only unoriginal region out there is NY. They just got out of that trash drill wave, rapping on UK DRILL BEATSRap was better when everyone had their own regional sound.

Another thing people forget is he’s not even American so he really could blend all the sounds together.I feel like it’s between the east and west. A lot of dope artist come from the West and I feel like a lot of artists in the west are more reality rap. East Coast hip hop is more flashier and more about bars. South I feel may not have the lyrics like the east and the west but they shine in flow and delivery for me.
This why Drake was such a force in hip hop he combines all styles of the coasts together and I feel like he kind of killed the whole regional sound thing tbh.
1984-2008/10 ish maybe and what op is saying(looks like) is the gate keepers were the record labels and dj’nI’m just trying to figure out about what year did NYC stop gatekeeping, so I can know what era the OP is saying rap was at its best.
Probably cause the east coast has always been irrelevant outside of NYCThis is cap. Do u know how much beef the south has had over the years? U wanna get me started? The problem is u nikkas keep comparing a whole fukkin region to ONE city. What happened is we were basically locked out of our own radio stations and been paying for it ever since.

The same KRS was out here saying his 9mm goes bangNYC had political rap on MTV during the day ( Public Enemy) and created a Stop The Violence movement (KRS) that influenced the West Coast to do something similar with All In The Same Gang. Plus we brought consciousness to the forefront with the Zulu Nation( before the Bambatta madness). And our 5% influence that had Ice Cube saying "I met Farrakhan and had dinner now you ask if I'm 5 percenter." NYC also had the better lyricists.
The West Coast unshered in the gang culture
The South ushered in the stripper and dumbed down rap culture.
In conclusion....OP is 100% correct.
Same reason they let you post when you should be stocking the shelfThat goof @Nuuko u quoted don't care about the west coast. He's a Kendrick bot who only cares about Kendrick. I can't believe yall nikkas let these nikkas run rampant the way they have since this battle cause they used to get shut down immediately. The last few months is the most that nikka has ever posted on this site.
