I’ve always said this but Asians treat math and science like we treat playing sports.

Ok let's meet half way, because clearly y'all dont understand what's going on.

How about black kids aim for a 3.3 gpa and socialize instead of being at the bottom of society? That would be a good start.
Black kids are at the bottom of society? :mjpls: Who’s at the top?

The MAJORITY of children in general aren’t great in math or English (again, look it up), but black children are the ones viewed as bottom feeders. Interesting.

Thats HIS small sample size. Unless the man knows thousands of Asian kids, his statement means nothing. :pachaha:
The term tiger mom was literally created because of how they treat their kids. It’s not a small sample. I’m not saying it’s the norm but it’s prevalent, especially in North America. They’re minorities surrounded by peers who have way more freedom and love than they do. And by love, I mean emotional support and even physical. Asian parents don’t tend to tell their kids they love them or even hug them. They show it differently.

Y’all look at racist and biased hiring practices for a reflection of a culture’s success, but ignore the poor or average Asian people you see making your food everyday :francis:

Absolute no critical thinking or observation skills as adults, but got the nerve to call out black children’s learning.

I'd bet most of them (if not all) talking about the culture can't do or haven't done STEM themselves.

Some folks just want to thrust their dumb opinions onto others without being questioned. They are intellectually lazy and don't want to do the work in figuring out whether the opinions they hold are true or not, or the discussion is more nuanced than they'd like to believe.

Sort of like the person below:
It really muddies the water of education talk when you got people who don’t respect or care about education try to speak as if they pro education

What about the other groups that excel?

Whites, Indians, Nigerians. They hate their parents too? :pachaha:
Some of y’all need to live outside your bubble. Can’t speak for Indians or whites but Africans have resentment towards their parents too to a certain extent. A lot of them are guilt tripped by their family to send their money to relatives they never even met because that’s the culture. They can’t wear their hair a certain style when they’re young cause it’s associated with being Jamaican and being a thug. Little shyt like that adds up. They work hard cause they fear their parents which in the long run it pays off but it does affect relationships.

It’s much different in the UK/Europe where being successful in sports is not such a sure shot as there is only really football. It almost feels like sports is being used as a shortcut to get out of financial burden, which for some appears to be a better option than via education and a career; which of course is very expensive if you aren’t a prodigy.

From an outsiders perspective, we need to emphasize maths, science, reading, etc a lot more. As parent we also need to set a trend. We cannot expect our kids to be wizards in school if they don’t see us reading and learning.

Some people resort to MURDER if you tell them to study to the point of mental abuse

Somw parents type to make your kids work 12 hour days in books and make them skip meals and socialization time.

Yeah, Jennifer Pan comes to mind. Parents were OD strict had her dumbass fabricating grades/diplomas to plotting out a home invasion to take them out and blaming it on brehs :mjpls:

Again, y'all nikkahs dont think.

You dont need a 4.0 GPA to excel in life. You dont need a Havard Degree.

Black kids aren't even at a basic level in Mathematics or English.

Hold on this damn goofy just said stem ain’t a necessity
STEM
Science, Technology, Engineering, MATHEMATICS
Man if I was a mod you would be bushed for that post

STEM is the upper echelon of degrees. No, a STEM degree isnt a necessity to excel in life.

There are a lot of careers outside of STEM that make good money. But you do need basic math and English to get into those fields.

To be taking AP calc as a freshmen and have access to diff eqs as a junior means she went to an amazing school system. most black people do not have access to that type of education. On top of that she was probably dreaming of going to MIT since she was a 6th grader, which means her parents or other people close to her are very academically inclined and helped got her onto that journey. If your parents don't know how to do calculus or aren't in position to put you in a great school system you can't replicate what this girl did. It takes the perfect storm of nature and nature to be one of the top high school students in the world.
Facts....plus....

We gotta stop comparing self-selected immigrants to large existing native populations.

If Indians as a whole were so perfect, they'd have no reason to move here because they would be able to fix their own country. Nigerians, same thing. The most determined make it here so of course they will outperform everyone.

We MUST do better, but there's a balance. I've seen too many Indian kids force themselves into STEM because that's what they're supposed to do when their natural aptitude lay elsewhere.

For whites, Blacks and Latinos...we can't see the flaws in the system because we were raised by the system. Indians, Chinese, Nigerians etc, have a different perspective looking from the outside, so they know exactly how to take advantage of the strengths of American education while also mitigating the weaknesses (extra prep courses, tutoring etc).

This is a damn lie :mjlol: You can go to any Chinatown, Koreatown, or the like and see that’s not even close to being true

Silly counter argument. This nikka said Chinatowns :mjlol: Chinatowns don’t represent even 1% of asian americans. They are 24% of all medical school grads in the US and 16% of computer and math occupations.

So yeah largest chunk of them work in tech or medicine like I said.
