It's a lot of fun learning this stuff. And it pays good to be an interpreter. I've seen job listings go as high as $70/hr. Nothing lower than $20 really , depending on region/area. It's a very high in demand job and skill. Any brehs in here have done that type of job or deal with the deaf?

Isn't it fun? The best way to learn is to try and translate song lyrics. I'm still trying to get used to spelling out words. I have the alphabet memorized. I love how one sign can mean similar things, so you don't have to have a sign for every word.

But yeah, search ASL interpreter on indeed. Don't put a specific location. The jobs pay really good. And a lot of them can be remote. What google/pay scale show about the salaries are only based on less than 1,000 surveys. Most people are making a lot more than what's being stated.

I've been doing this the past six months and i don't know sign language. No one has called me out or anything lol.

  • Don't have to stare at a screen all day.
  • Can communicate with some really interesting people.
  • In the event that I ever lose my hearing, I'll know how to navigate life.
  • Teaches you to be more focused.
  • You'll always have a job cuz the demand is always there.
  • You're helping people which creates good karma.

Same with both my daughters. They could tell us they were hungry, sleepy, wanted more of something etc before they could talk or say any actual words.

That thought has crossed my mind. I'm sure it must be hard for deaf chicks finding good dikk and just a partner in general. And it's probably a plus if they have a man who knows ASL, can hear, is attractive and makes good money. You're essentially the top 1%

Yo I was just thinking about this last week :dwillhuh:

I had a hip hop show I put on last Sunday and I had someone come to me and said their room mate wanted to come but said she doubt that we’d have an interpreter.

I was like :ohhh: I don’t even think truly know anyone deaf or who knows ASL.

That’s dope bro bro if anything you could always lend out your skill to poorer kids around the way
