I've come to realize Japanese games should be written by western writers

..and story, exploration, customization, depth (gameplay AND character), and innovation. :heh:
Game play, deph, characters and innovation in which alternative universe are you living in?
Sit the fukk down, I'm legit annoyed by your dumbass post, if it wasn't for the Japanese bringing innovation, variety you'd be still playing a generic first person shooter in space on your PC/Xbox.

Make a credible top 10 where 90% of the games are not Japanese developed... You couldn't.

Soundtrack, game play, characters, story, innovation, creativity the western developers with their 15th version of Call of Duty and Assassins Creed are not fukking with the Japanese developers. It's a no contest.

Nah dude, this is seriously all Japanese games. You ever try to make sense of the plot of Street Fighter? The Legend of Zelda? Metroid? Metal Gear Solid? Resident Evil? Xenoblade? All jumbled, inconsistent, incoherent, and over the top.

Yeah, for resident evil I have to admit the plot goes everywhere on some kingdom hearts shyt. Speaking of kingdom hearts, add that to the list.

Those are open world games where the story is not the focus nor the selling point.

The selling point of JRPGs is often the story and it's always terrible.

Find me a single Japanese game with a story with movie like quality like the last of us or uncharted 2
Uncharted 2's story was not good, it was an average Indiana jones story at best I mostly enjoyed the gameplay and visuals.

Yakuza 4 had a better story it felt like a Japanese version of "the departed"

Bioshock Infinite would have been an infinitely better example than uncharted 2.

You want me to start dikksucking western games stories give me more of a diverse cast like in Sleeping dogs or San Andreas . The Japanese kinda get a pass because there are very few foreigners living there but western developers have no excuse.
Even though these anime characters look white 90% of the time.

I dunno why you're caping for games developers that don't want to be very inclusive.

I just started studying videogame writing and western games are hyped by western media so westerners can feel superior because they have an inferiority complex when it comes to the japanese who dominated videogames for so long.

I heard all the hype about that witcher 3, and the story in the game is extremely mediocre, anti-climatic, nothing really happens, no significant villains, mundane plot

yet because people were told it was great over and over they believed it

Also Last of Us and Uncharted aren't games they are interactive movies with zero replay value, with predictable cliche plots that are delivered with hollywood level voice acting so people believe it's a good story
