dialogue in western games (and other forms of media) tend to be more coherent than their japanese counterparts, but that could be due to translation
This. I was playing some Japanese games and reading the lines in Japanese and then reading the translated line some time later there's always some nuance or w/e missing that sounds different. Most of the time it can be acceptable, even good but there's things lost. The most recent being Persona 5 in which one of the characters says something accidentally while eating in a restaurant that other people heard and another party member quickly tries to play it off by laughing and saying something else that is pronounced the same but means something else but also conveniently making sense in the context of what they were doing. That part would have to be changed in English because there's no equivalent so I guess they'd need to switch up the scene's dialogue slightly.dialogue in western games (and other forms of media) tend to be more coherent than their japanese counterparts, but that could be due to translation
Lets not forget how to make a fukking menu/inventory screen with some sensibility...and story, exploration, customization, depth (gameplay AND character), and innovation.![]()
What a dumbass excuse. Write it in English first then, then translate to Japanese. That way there are no translation issuesThis. They get more money from the us market. There are way more US gamers playing mainstream Japanese games like FF. They should cater to usExcept for the Japanese gamers. Holy shyt you are a retard.
It doesn't work that way. English and Japanese isn't the same. There's no 100% translation as things just don't translate correctly because of language differences. Plus if the writer is Japanese then how would they write it in English first? That's what localization is for. It's not a direct translation it's more of a reworking of a script to make it fit that target audiences language/background. Some games have great localization so this issue isn't really that big of a deal outside some uncommon bad translations. What a dumbass excuse. Should western games be written by others too?
