Can we admit that Hip-Hop has the shortest shelf life of any genre of music?

You can listen to most Hip-Hop records and easily peg the era it comes from or tell its outdated whereas with certain music/artists from other genres the music comes to life and creates an actual atmosphere that seems fresh even if the song may be 30 years old or older.

Can you tell me what genres from the 60's and 70's is still poppin?

How's disco doing these days:stopitslime:

Or how about good old rock and roll? :francis:

Folk?:mjlol:

Let's be real it's not hip hop. Music in general has been in the collective shytter since before 2000. Doesn't mean there isn't a never ending stream of good stuff to be found in the underground, just dig a little:yeshrug:

Random bump but i had to cosign this post. I'm bumping because its Memorial Day weekend now and Ive been in and out the house and up the block and I hear a couple houses playing these classic records...some examples is they played "Got to Be There" by MJ when he was a kid :lawd: "Dreaming of You" by Selena "If" by Janet..."You Gotta Be..." by Desree...

I mean there are exceptions to the rule like Juicy by Biggie...but for the most part there isn't a VAST collection of rap you can play for your entire family at a get together. I was stubborn when I was younger but as you get older(im 24) you truly see what they meant. Alot of these rappers really need to step it up man. Then when you got cats like Nas...they have bad beat selection :beli:
