sativas seem to alter my perception more, to the point where a potent edible made with a sativa strain will have me like

I love that feeling where you look around and feel like you're in a new place entirely

A sativa can have you paranoid if you're a lightweight. But an indica can do the same thing. And since smoking heavy indicas i've yet to find a sativa strain i would describe as more potent. Sativa highs always seem light to me.

Know your limit. if you're smoking till you're comfortable a sativa is best for social interactions. indica is fine too but better chance it'll leave you looking like a zombie by the end of the night.

Sativa's and indica's are not all created equal, even among their type. The African, Thai and some of the Latin landraces can have devastating effects. Experience really means knowing your limit and when to excuse yourself when you realise it has set it. Zamal from Reunion off the coast of Africa and some of the proper original Thai you may want to look into.
